![]() Of particular note is the excellent Innerspace, which transforms even the simplest signal into a creepy atmosphere via a selection of what appear to be impulse responses, two of which can be used in a single effect, for unique, unnerving soundscapes. Less dramatic enhancements include a note transposition sequencer, speed offset and new modulation capabilities for the arpeggiator, and 25 new effects, including a wealth of distortion and modulation processors, Crying Wah, Precision Compressor and more. "Omnisphere 2 is a tremendous follow-up that takes the synth to the next level and beyond" Factor in the oscillator Symmetry and Hardsync parameters, and you have a near-endless array of base timbres.Īmong the many other improvements to the Layer section are eight new filter types, enhanced FM and ring modulation (both now have Shape, Symmetry and Sync controls), analogue-style unison drift, polyphonic LFO and Modulation Envelope options, and Soundsource Reversing, which makes any Soundsources (Omnisphere's raw samples) play backwards. ![]() The Analogue Timbres are more involved, approaching the level of complexity found in Massive's wavetables and the Digital Wavetables will delight fans of EDM, DnB and dubstep with their grungy tones and complex harmonic movement. The next biggest new feature in Omnisphere 2 is its expanded library of oscillator wavetables, bumping the original's measly five up to a jaw-dropping 400, each with a Shape parameter to control the wavetable position! The wavetables are divided into three types: Classic Waveforms, Analog Timbres and Digital Wavetables.Ĭlassic Waveforms are mostly based on raw hardware synth waves, and their wavetables are pretty straightforward, typically morphing between sawtooth and square or triangle shapes, much like the waves in the original Omnisphere. We're sure that for some v1 users, the addition of User Audio alone will be worth the upgrade price. Running your own sounds through Omnisphere's incredible synthesis engine is enormous fun, and the creative potential is immense, especially when you factor in the Oscillator section's new Granular Synthesis algorithm. Lack of sample looping aside, User Audio works beautifully, and it's compatible with WAV and AIF files (8- to 32-bit). ![]() No doubt about it, the ability to loop User Audio files (ideally with crossfading) would really unlock Omnisphere 2's potential, and we hope it comes in an update. ![]() As it stands, if you want your samples to loop, you'll need to embed loop points in an audio editor such as WaveLab or Sound Forge first - a real inconvenience. ![]()

The contract Sibelius signed with Lybeck in 1909 stipulated that the latter would, in exchange for a fee, own the rights to the incidental music. Īt the premiere, the ensemble consisted of seven musicians: two first violins (including Victor Carnier, who took the violin solo in Tableau 1), one second violin, one viola, two cellos (one of whom was Bror Persfelt ), and one contrabass. The fact that Sibelius had contributed original music tended to increase any play's box office. The Swedish actresses Valborg Hansson (left) and Karin Molander (right) created the roles of Adla and Elisiv, respectively, for the 6 April 1910 premiere at the Swedish Theatre. A typical performance lasts about 17 minutes. Accordingly, it has been recorded only a few times, with Juha Kangas and the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra having made the world premiere studio recording in 1994. ![]() In the intervening decades, The Lizard has entered neither the Finnish nor the international repertories, and its significance is therefore primarily as a historical curiosity: Sibelius's lone theatre score for chamber ensemble. The Lizard comes from Sibelius's "crisis period" (1908–1912) and is therefore a 'psychological' work comparable to the string quartet Voces intimae (1909) and the Fourth Symphony (1911). Stylistically, Sibelius deploys chromaticism to achieve a darkly-colored and dream-like palette. The composer thought highly of his contribution to The Lizard, describing it to his patron and confidant Axel Carpelan as "one of the most exquisite works I have written". ![]() Scholars speculate that this is because the music is dependent on the play's action. ![]() Although it was Sibelius's habit to excerpt suites from his theatre scores (as he had with, for example, King Christian II in 1898, Pelléas et Mélisande in 1905, Belshazzar's Feast in 1907, and Swanwhite in 1908), he never did so with The Lizard. Nevertheless, the production folded after just six performances, and The Lizard was never revived in Sibelius's lifetime. The critics praised Sibelius's music as having fit the mood of the play well. During Act II, Sibelius conducted the chamber ensemble, which for effect he positioned behind the stage. The play premiered on 6 April 1910 at the Swedish Theatre in Helsinki Gustaf Molander and Karin Molander created the roles of Alban and Elisiv, respectively, while the Swedish actress Valborg Hansson guest starred as Adla. Sibelius contributed music for two scenes in Act II: Tableau 1, in which Alban plays his violin at the family burial chapel, hoping to summon his deceased relatives and Tableau 3, in which Elisiv during a fever dream hears "strange" music and, later with three Eyringe ghosts, ponders the thin line between life and death. The story, which takes place at the Eyringe family estate, is a romantic triangle: Alban, an overly-sensitive nobleman with an artist's soul, is engaged to Elisiv, the tender and virtuous nurse who had cared for his late father however, he struggles to resist the carnal advances of his older cousin Adla (her name is a near homonym for ödla, the Swedish word for lizard), a cunning temptress whose plot to seduce him turns lethal. The Lizard (in Swedish: Ödlan), Op. 8, is a theatre score for string ensemble-comprising six to nine musicians-by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius he wrote the music in 1909 to accompany the Finnish author Mikael Lybeck's 1908 three-act, Symbolist play ( skådespel) of the same name. ![]() ![]() ![]() I think my first tic was a slight facial grimace however, it was so subtle that neither myself nor my parents can be 100 percent sure. ![]() TS is a very unique disorder as a result of the fact that every case is different, which includes the way the symptoms start. A simple tic, however, is not always the first tic for a child, and each child with TS or TS+ will differ in the way they present with various symptoms. After a child’s first simple tic, other tics may develop in the trunk, arms and legs. Simple facial tics like eye blinking, slight facial grimacing or slight facial twitching will usually be the first tic a child has. What are the first signs of Tourette’s?ġ) One of the first classic warning signs for the TS+ child is a simple tic, usually in the face. It is important to remember that in order for the types of things I describe to be tics, that they must be repetitive in the sense that you will see your child doing these things over and over again throughout the week, month or even day. In this post, I will outline and summarize two of the main types of tics that are warning signs for TS+ in a younger child anywhere from the ages of 2 years old to a middle school-aged child. Some other co-morbid disorders that can come along with TS are ADD, ADHD, mood disorders such as bipolar disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, rage issues and other disorders as well. I myself have OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Panic Attack Disorder (although I haven’t had a major, full-fledged panic attack in about two years), and impulsivity issues also known as disinhibition. This winter break, I have spent some time thinking about why I wasn’t diagnosed sooner and why my mom did not see the early warning signs as warning signs as part of the larger picture for a TS+ child.įor those of you who are unfamiliar with the term TS+, it stands for Tourette Syndrome in combination with the co-morbid conditions that commonly come along with Tourette. ![]() ![]() ![]()
